The DCAC gallery is an alternative art space founded in 1989 to support the work of local and emerging artists. Since that time we have expanded our scope to include regional, national and international artists. DCAC is committed to providing a forum for artistic expression, communication and exchange through the following activities:

We promote emerging and under-recognized artists with exhibitions and inspire fresh approaches to artistic development by encouraging established artists to use our gallery as a project space for ideas that cannot be executed in a commercial art gallery.

We assist artists in the business of production, self-promotion, and establishing connections with other members of the art community.

We provide an exchange venue for national and international artists collectives to present their work in Washington, DC when, in turn, they can give the DC artists an opportunity to present in their own cites around the country and around the world.

We support and develop new curators through our Curatorial Initiative program. Every year we pair an established curator with apprentice who has a strong interest in curating. In the spring the established curator presents an exhibition with the assistance of the mentee, and in the autumn the mentee presents an exhibition with the assistance of the mentor.

We organize panel discussions, art talks, and slide shows to encourage dialogue and feedback on local artwork, the local art community and the greater art world.

We are open to applications from all artists working seriously in their field and do not discriminate according to politics, race, age, religion, gender or sexual orientation.

Please submit 10 to 12 images on a CD or DVD along with a printed version of your resume, artist statement and image identification sheet with the dimensions, media and date created.
