Urban Dwell is owned by Tom McMahon and opened doors in 2015 in the hip D.C. neighborhood of Adams Morgan. After 22 years of active-duty service, Tom retired from the U.S. Air Force in 2014 as an Intelligence Officer in the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He resides in Mclean, VA with his wife Katie and two daughters, Keegan and Finley. Tom and the shop have been featured by the U.S. Small Business Administration and SCORE, a mentorship program for former military personnel.

My work is created mostly in acrylics and oils. I love using bright colors and creating somewhat caricature style paintings. I love creating and exploring patterns as well.
ABOUT KATE FIELDS
I am a lifelong artist. After going to the School of Visual Arts in NYC, I worked as a painter and art teacher. I moved to DC from NYC three years ago and have studied at the Washington Studio School, where I am currently enrolled. In addition, I am raising my two kids and am a postpartum doula and vegetarian chef.
